My friend is having problems with shrimp die off in his tank and those are his test results. That suggests the co2 is over 100ppm.
He's adding baking soda to raise the pH but the pH wont rise.

He has other buffers in water? How is he injecting CO2? what is the ph of source water?

40w T6 ODNO4x, no CO2. Discus grow out.
10gallon Tonina tank, 2x15w T6 ODNO 4x

I will do aquascapes after I collect all the plant species and grow them to perfection.

There are no added buffers except for crusehd corals, but this should increase the pH and not lower it. The co2 is off.
Its a 12 gallon nano cube.
The tap pH comes out around 8.5-9 but has 1 KH or zero. It settles to 7.0 over night.
Recently all teh animals in his tank died off.

so this kh=17 degrees is almost all from crushed coral? weird. There MUST be SOMETHING in the tank to cause this ph.

Yeah its really weird, unless the test kit is off. But the pH controller is reading the same pH.

whoa....
1dKh would be 17ppm of Kh.

When you say a Kh of 17 are you talking degrees or ppm?

Because 17ppm of Kh and a pH under 7.0 is quite normal. And with a tap water of only 1dKh, I don't see crushed coral adding 16dKh. I need to make sure we're talking the same values here before anyone freaks out

Its one degree and not PPM.
He changed teh water and its up to 6.8 now. There must be some sort of acidic buffer in there.
