Turning CO2 off at night : BBA & pH swings?

I keep hearing that raising your CO2 levels will put a stop to BBA.

But quite a few people turn their CO2 off with the lights off. Does this give BBA a chance or is it not important since there is no lighting?

And what kind of pH swings does one encounter? I know this will vary depending on the KH levels of water but...

I'm thinking of connecting my pH controller to a timer so that it turns off with lights out and comes on an hour or two before lights on. Therefore my questions.

I currently see 0.7 ph swing(6.7 - 7.4). 6.7 is when my CO2 shuts off. BBA does not grow at night so no worries there. No visible stress on discus.

And how long does it take for the pH to get back down once the CO2 comes on?

What's your KH like?

kh=4-5. takes about 1.5 hours to reach the controller range 6.8, that's how long I turn on CO2 before lights come on. It depends on your CO2 output rate obviously, if you crank up the CO2 bubble rate, it will take less time. I always fine tune my needle valve such that even if controller does not shut off, the CO2 level won't be crazily high in the tank, as a safety precaution.

Ok, great. Thanks for the input, I think I'll give it a try.
