CO2 and Excel

I recently switched from Excel to a paintball CO2 setup. Is there any benefit to using both simultaneously, as suggested by the Seachem site?

Not really unless you want to spot dose algae with Excel or something. If you can get the CO2 to a non-limiting state by itself, the Excel is pretty useless.

I agree with VeeSe. If you have plenty of CO2 and everything is doing fine, then I don't see any reason to use Excel.

When I first started with planted tanks I had high light but no CO2 or fertilizor, so basically an algae farm... Once I got everything settled I used Excel in addition to CO2 to knock out the last stubborn bit of BBA.

I dose excel (1ml: 5 gal tank water) daily for algae prevention. After a couple years of this I think that I've successfully bred excel resistant algae. Oh joy! If I had it to do over, I would only dose excel for a few weeks at a go for algae treatment.
