Seachem Flourish Tabs placement?

So I have did some major aquascaping this weekend and started to burry the flourish tabs into the blasting sand approximately 5-6" apart between plants. Not directly into the roots though. Thats what the instructions said to be 6" apart but nothing about it being into the roots of the plants.

Is this okay? My concern is that the root tabs will not reach the roots being 5-6" apart.

Also, for dwarf grass, it's a 3 x 5" mat, I just placed two root tabs at the corners. Is this right?

I'm also dosing with Seachem Flourish Supplement.

The root tabs slowly break down. They end up dispersing themselves a lot further then the size of the root tab. Also your plants will find the nutrients they need. In my tank I have noticed the roots end up growing towards the root tabs. That being said I also like to stick a root tab directly under my rarer plants to insure they are getting what they need.

BLah, so 6" apart isn't the right way to do it then. I just wasted 25 tabs! lol

No I would say 6" apart is not that bad. I would just go with it. See how your growth is going and if you start to notice plants struggling add more. What kind of plants are you growing?
