KH has fallen and can't get up

About 4 weeks back after a 60% water change, for whatever reason, I decided to add about 2.5 or 3 tsp of MgSO4 to my 50g tank. I think I thought that since it was in the proper range according to Chuck Gadd's calculator, no problem. Well, the KH went from a steady 4, to 2. Is my KH ever going to get back to 4 with water changes(it hasn't yet after 3 50% WC) or am I going to have to add some calcium carbonate?

Are you using a Carbo Plus for CO2?

No carbo plus unit. The only thing that I did different was add that 2.5 tsp of Magnesium. Come to think about it, I may have changed my CO2 output from 1 bps to 1/2 bps around that time. That wouldn't have any effect though on KH, right?

Neither should have an effect on KH...

Have you checked the KH of your tap water recently? My tap water changes KH during the year, from a high of 14-15 to a low of 6-7!

Shalu, I think we are fed water from the same source(Hetch Hechey) so I guess I will check that. Thanks Laith because I was no where near that line of thought.
