Water hardness question...

I have a well but not heavily planted, well stocked tank. I use Excel every other day (1 cap) and Fluorish every week (1 cap). Ten days ago before a small water change (20%) my readings were KH 6, GH 9, AM .25, NI 0, NA 40, PH 8. I also put down about 6 root tabs that day. Ten days later my readings are KH 7, GH 10, AM 0, NI 0, NA 40, PH 7.4. Does this mean anything to anyone? I'm especially confused with water hardness and PH readings.

Norman, if your water was not aged and was straight from the tap, then your pH can be lower due to CO2 in the water supply. Once it ages or "out-gasses" the pH will rise. That's just one possibility that I'm aware of.

Thanks for your quick reply. That does make sense as I do always have high PH readings but in this case the PH dropped from 8 to 7.4. I'm sure I read something about this but I can't remember what?
