Gh booster

Reading through the dosing thread, got on green leaf and ordered the needed dry chemicals. I went with their gh booster as it was advertised to have trace elements. when I got the package on today, the dosing instructions were based off RI/RO water which I don't use. can I use the dosing chart in the sticky?

125 gallon, light/ moderate planting, odyssea 4x80 t5 ho lighting and getting CO2 refilled next week.

It is my understanding that the GH booster is to replace the needed nutrients for plants that RO/DI filters take out and increase the hardness. I do use a RO/DI filter and have been using Equilibrium but I am going to order and use what you bought. If you are not using RO/DI, then I wouldn't use the GH booster unless your water is very soft and just use the other ferts he has. Not sure if I answered your question :/

The current thinking seems to be that dosing GH booster at least with every water change is good, because it ensures that you have enough magnesium and calcium for the plants.

I would test your hardness of your water since you are using straight from the tap. What kind of plants are you trying to keep?

I don't use RO/DI water and I add a little bit of GH booster on my 50% WC every week (1tsp on my 55G). I also then add 2 tsp of MgSO4 just to make sure I have enough Mg (and dose more when I dose CSM+B).

Here is my current tank setup, not a heavily planted situation... I am looking at the dosing regime as below since I do use tap water. and it is not inherently soft.

I am looking at the following dosing...

KNO3 1 tsp 3xweek
KH2PO4 1/4tsp 3x week
GHbooster/Trace 1tsp per water changes
Iron 2-3x week

Even though my tank is 125, I do not have a ton of plants, so I figure once I get my CO2 back up and running this should be a sufficent dosing?
