Metricide 14 and co2 - issues??

Hey all, I am having a couple questions regarding metricide 14 and its use. I was wondering if it's ok to use along with a co2 injected system? Has anyone done this before?

By adding the additional co2 value, plus a drop checker at around 20 ppm, will this add to much co2 to the water column and affect fish health? I have a reef setup so its harder to get the range appropriately. Or do they work completely different by one adding a carbon form and another by the actual injection?

I have found few forums on metricide 14 to begin with, let alone added to co2 injection. I would use it for its additional co2 properties and algae fighting properties. I have had a little issue with BBA and GSA

55 g, 2 wpg on for 10 hrs, adding more plants this week (medium to heavy planted), EI dosing, good flow.

Let me know! Thanks everyone

I think it would be pointless and expensive. If you have pressurized CO2 and EI dosing and you are still having problems with algae then I can guarantee your problem is too much light.

They work differently. Metricide adds no CO2 to the water column.

Any additional growth benefit from the Metricide will probably be unnoticeable in comparison to the CO2.

Though if you double dose it, it may help with the BBA a bit. It doesn't appear to affect GSA at all.

A double dose is about $0.05 per day, so it's not expensive.

Though you may have an issue with insufficient CO2, especially if you're calculating that 20ppm using the PH/KH relationship rather than a drop checker. And perhaps a bit too much light also. Both are worth looking into in case there's a problem, which will make things harder on you than necessary.

I actually dosed while injecting co2. My problem was that I was using glass diffuser on 125g tank and I just didn't have enough co2 going.

The difference in plant growth was noticeable with 3 days. I also had BBA problem which went away through spot treating but not through water column dosing.

Also if are going to spot treat turn off the filters/pumps so that metrocide will stay more or less in a designated area.

2 watts per gallon on a 55 gallon tank could be a 2 bulb T5HO light with very good reflectors. That would be very high light intensity, and pressurized CO2 running at as high a bubble rate as you can without harming the fish would be needed to have a good chance to avoid continual algae problems.
