Low Tech Fert Help

I have a planted 10gal tank....low tech setup....no c02....t8 light///no water changes, only top offs....and fertilizing....my questions are

1) Are there ranges for the nitrates, phosphates that I should be aiming for in the low tech setup?

2) I was thinking of fertilizing once/week....would it be safe to use the EI dose for 10 gal....but dose once/week instead of 3times?

I have mainly ferns, moses, crypts....gonna try some ludwigia and wisteria in there to see how it does

Thoughts?

You may not need to dose any fertilizers, because the fish and leftover food may be adequate to support the slow plant growth you will have. If you want to be sure you have enough nutrients, just dose about half of the amount the EI method calls for for each dose, and dose only weekly or even less often, based on watching the plant growth rates.

are the EI dose ranges safe to use without injecting CO2?

Should i still be shooting for nitrates in the 20-30ppm and phosphates 1-2 ppm?

The safe range for nitrates and phosphates is much higher than you will ever see by dosing per EI, even doing so very generously. It is best, in my opinion, not to shoot for any specific ppm of either one. Just use the recommendations in the sticky on dosing methods, with confidence that you aren't going to do any harm by doing so. (True whether you use CO2 or not.)

They should do well if you use CO2, even DIY CO2. But, the ludwigia may not be as red as you expected. The Wisteria I found to be a tricky plant - it either tries to take over the whole tank, or it just quits growing and breaks off pieces to float around. I'm not a fan of it because of that.

DIY CO2 in a 10G is easy.

Wisteria and Ludwigia Repens do well in my low light tanks without CO2 if I add Excel, though I hear it may temporarily melt crypts.
