wood and ph

so can anyone tell me the relationship between wood and ph and how it affects my theoretical co2 levels when using the charts? i know that it will release tannins thus driving the ph down so is the kh/ph chart method accurate to determine c02 levels? if i've got a piece of rotting wood in my tank do i really have say 30ppm
