I already had iron when I ordered mine, but was wondering the same question. I've think I read somewhere that you dose micros to get a certain concentration of iron, but am not sure. I'm sure somebody will have a better answer than this for you. Also, on Greg's site he mentions to mix Magnesium with this. I didn't order any. Is this just a circumstantial need? My kH averages about 4.5 dkh, and gH is always around 100-120 ppm. Should I have bought some.

40 gallon SeaClear Acrylic, 192 watt Orbit Lunar PC, Filstar XP2, Filstar XP1, JBJ Regulator, Rhinox 5000 glass co2 diffusor, 9 watt UV sterilizer, Hydor Inline Heater, Pool Filter Sand substrate
Filstar pimp #53

How comes shoppings so stupid, looks at all this stuff I haves, what do I do's with it.

I don't know if it's the norm, but for me, I purchased CSB+B plus iron and it hasn't showed an improvement over flourish.

My tank is still showing a signs of iron issues. I know it's not the Ca or Mg. But since I can't test for iron, I can't be sure its iron. My UV unit is off too to make sure it's not that hampering this uptake.

I been dosing with CSB+B plus iron and the tank is still showing iron issues (it has been a couple of weeks). I add 2x the recommended flourish Iron into the tank last weekend and things started to perk up.

I wonder if it's because my phosphate is around 2 and it's bonding with the cleated iron.

My new plan is instead of running a weekly schedule; I'm going bi-weekly. After every dosing day, it will follow a non-dosing day. Maybe this will help, don't know for sure. But I'm going to find out. (I think I saw Tom Barr post something this, but can’t seem to find it.)

I had teh same iron deficiency when using CSM+B. You have to really increase the iron dose by multiples until you see a difference. You know you have too much when you see green spot algae appearing. With that much phosphate you can go very high on your CSM and Iron dosing. I dose 3X the CSM.

I'd order chelated iron, and dose it separately. Iron oxidizes out of the tank really fast. if you dose CSM every other day, you might still be low on iron on the days you don't dose. So lots of people dose iron on the days they don't dose CSM, so iron levels stay more consistent...and consistency will keep the plants going full steam.

I, too, ordered the 10% chelated iron seperately, but I forget, what is the target concentration for iron for a typical high intensity, high plant density tank?
