KH question

I'm curious about KH/alkalinity (yes, I realize they're not the same, but they're pretty darned close for most situations.) Can it be too high? I've got well water with a KH of 14. If I'm not mistaken, doesn't this mean that my pH should be very stable (because of the buffering from the KH) and not a whole lot else?

Oddly enough, even with high KH and a TDS well over 500 mg/L, my GH is only 2.5. I'm sitting on an odd well...

High KH doesn't mean the pH will be very stable. It means the pH will be high. Some fish and a few plants will be bothered by that KH, assuming your KH test kit is accurate.

I've been wondering the same thing. My well water kh measures 22. ph is 8+ (its off the top of the color chart). Doesn't seem to bother the fish at all.
