NO3 levels

I have been doing PPS Pro dosing and when I test my tanks now, NO3 levels are around 40 when before, below 20...

Is this normal...I have a planted tank with no CO2...other than that, water parameters are great.

Cut back on the NO3 used in your mix.

I eliminated NO3 all together when I used that system and NO3 never bottomed out in my tanks.

If you aren't using CO2, your lighting is probably low intensity too, so you don't need to be concerned much about any fertilizing. Just dropping in a pinch or so of NPK and traces once a week is about all you will ever need. Virtually any fertilizing method will work fine with low light and no CO2.

Over my 20g Long, I have one 24 T5HO and one Anatic bulb 3 inches over the top...over my 10g, I have a 24w CFL 3 inches over the top...

Plants are doing well with root tabs as well and very little algae growing
