Hard water, planning planted betta tank

Hi all, I've got some stupid newbie questions!

I hail from Florida, and have well water. Although I have no chlorine due to the well water, I do have all kinds of loverly mineral content, including iron and sulfur on top already hard water. I pitched my test kits since some of the reagent bottles had leaked during our move to florida, so I haven't tested the water yet to get parameters, but suffice it to say that our water is "rather hard".

I'd like to start a 10 or 29gallon planted tank (10gallon would be with a betta for my daughter, 29gallon would probably be a generic tropical tank to make my wife happy, since she wants to flush my cichlids when they get aggressive). What issues am I likely to have due to the high mineral content of my water?

thanks,
Rick (the armchair aquarist)
