black edges in low tech planted tank

I have a 50 gallon breeder, (2) 2x21w T5NO fixtures on top of tank-on for 7 hrs, no CO2, Aquasoil, Rootmedic root ferts, a dash of macro dry ferts and a dose of flourish comprehensive every week or two ( base my dosing on Tom's non CO2 thread at the Barr Report ) PACKED with sword plants ( approx 20 swords of different types ) and Apongeton sp.

I got the swords from a member of this forum and they died off some when I put them in my tank ( similar to crypt melt, just not as quick or severe ) I chalked it up to acclimation due to changing water conditions. I have lots of new growth but as the leaves grow the edges start to turn dark brown or black. It doesnt happen on all of the leaves, but a lot of them. Mostly the smaller swords. It doesnt appear to be algae, in fact I dont see an algae at all in this tank so far. I assume its a shortage of some nutrient, but Im not sure which one. Anyone experience this before and know what caused it?

I am at work right now and dont have any pictures. Thanks in advance for any input or suggestions.
