Q about ordering Fertz

I am looking at buying Fertilizers for my tank and on aquariumfertilizer.com they have a Macro-Micro Mix that contains 1 part each of Potassium Nitrate, Potassium Sulfate, Magnesium Sulfate, Plantex CSM+B.

Could I just order this pack and use it kind of like say an "all in one" kinda thing.

Otherwise I was planning on ordering just the KNO3, Plantex CSM+B, and KSO4.
Would I be wise to get some chelated Iron too?

If I order the first one it would take a lot of the guessing and calculating on dosing each fert.
If I order the latter it would be probably require more work and guessing but allows me to dose at different proportions. LOL

Which would you guys find easier to use? and what would you prefer?

Aquatic plants need phosphates too, and that mix contains none. If you add phosphates to the mix, in water, the phosphates combine with the iron to form a precipitate, so that shouldn't be done. But, you could dose the mix and the phosphates separately. The mix should be closer to 4 parts NO3 to 1 part phosphate to one part trace mix, than to 1 to 1 to 1.

So you would recommend maybe an order of MKP or KH2PO4 or something of the like to the order?

It's been awhile, but last I checked, buying "packs" was less cost-efficient than buying individual ferts, and you're unable to customize.

As Hoppy says, you want a 4:1:1 ratio of a nitrate (KNO3), a phosphate (KH2PO4), and a micro/trace (CSM+B). In addition, you want a potassium source (K2SO4 or GH Booster), though potassium is also provided by the first two ferts. If you've got a low GH, get GH booster. If not, maybe a bit of K2SO4. GH booster also includes magnesium, manganese, and calcium.

Some people recommend iron, some don't. Some claim it brings out the red in plants, some claim it doesn't. If you want to give it a shot, try using it at 1/2 the dose of CSM+B. Good luck!
