Chelated Iron question

What is the difference between EDTA and DTPA Chelated Iron.

Here's a good thread explaining the difference. In the end it doesn't really matter I don't think. I use ferrous gluconate...it's not really any better.

Would it be recommended to dose Fe? How necessary is it?
55gal 216w raised light CO2 30-40ppm

1/2 Tsp-KN03 3x a week
1/8 Tsp-KH2P04 3x a week
1/8Tsp-Trace 3x a week
50% H20 change-weekly

I would definitely suggest extra FE. To avoid algae spikes add FE slowly adding more each week. Then hold your dosing level when your plants get the desired color you want. If you just dump in a random amount you'll get GSA growing out of your orifices.
It's not necessary with enough trace dosing but my plants personally become rather pallid without strong FE dosing. I just make my own stock solution at the same concentration as seachem's iron formula then dose to their directions.
