EI confusion

Ok im running into some trouble with EI dry dosing and getting a bit confuse, im still quite new to this.

The tank 20G
25 Days old
Co2 >30ppm
high lighting
im following this site's regime.

I use the "Fertilator", and aim for these target:
KNO3 - NO3 5ppm
KH2Po4 - PO4 5.5ppm
K2So4 - K 14.5ppm
MgSo4 - Mg 2.2ppm
Chelated Iron - Fe+ 0.5ppm
No Ca fert.
4ml of Micro/trace

my problems are:

-Im getting twisted and curved new growth, on my Rotala and HM plant.

so calcium deficiency right?, but my Gh reading is 50ppm and Kh is 40ppm, isnt that acceptable range meaning i have enough calcium? I dont have any Ca fert.

and im -getting some bad cloudiness,
is this due to excess Phosphate?

Please, i'll like any contribution.

Hi,twisted and curved new growth means micro/trace deficiency also .
cloudiness in 25 days old tank-normal peak of nitrites imo.

If you want to make your life easier, dose EI. This is what you should be doing if you're dosing EI.

50% H20 change-weekly
1/4 Tsp-KN03 3x a week
1/16 Tsp-KH2P04 3x aweek
1/2 Tsp-GH booster once a week
5ml or 1/16Tsp-Trace 3x a week
Optional
1-2ml-Fe/Iron 3x a week

The Achilles Heel, in your system and for that matter, most folks..............is CO2.

Twisted new growth and progressively smaller tip growth are dead on sign of poor CO2.

I've yet to see Ca++ limitation in the aquarium, it can occur, but it would pretty tough and someone who really have to try hard and not do water changes/not dose.

well good news, the cloudiness is solved, (80% w/c and media clean).

dammmmm Co2... my drop checker shows yellow so I'm just guessing its +30ppm. This might be highly inaccurate then. I'll add another DIY bottle this weekend.

Approach CO2 slowly and with caution, it is always suspect.
Even for me 20 years later.

You want to adjust it slowly and consistently very small amounts and observe, this will later alert you when there is a minor change in CO2.

You will know what to look for a see, this will also prevent you from gassing your fish.

DIY cO2 is not the best option, but it is cheap to see and try.
Best to get a gas tank and reg. It will make the control much easier.
