Strange Water Parameters after Snow Storm

Its been 3 days since the snow storm here in Milford CT and I just took some measurements of my tap water and the results where strange. In fact I repeated the tests with other brand kist and the results lined up the same.

PO4 - 0.5 ppm (This is usually 1 ppm)
NO3 - 0 ppm (This is usually 5 ppm. My kits don't read any lower)
GH - 2 dkh (This is usually 7 dKh !!!)
KH - 1~2 dkh (This is usally 4~5 dKH !!!)

Any explainations ?

We received over 18 " of snow this weekend. I can only think that this had something to do with it.

Here's an uninformed guess from someone who worked a bit with watersheds - Is it possible that the water authority in your area drained resevoirs to get lower water levels in anticipation of a possibly large melt? And that the fast purging of water led to less treatment and less absorption time for minerals into the water?
Just a thought....

10g planted with glowlight tetras and an otto.
Outdoor pond with one common goldfish and comets.
5.5g with endlers.

Sounds like a good theory.

I am at a loss to explain this.

The way I came across this is because I did a 40% water change the other night and today my ph was at 6.6 with no change to CO2 rates. I check my tank water and the Kh was 3.5 when its typically is 4.5 or 5.

I then tested the tap water and the results are what you see above.

The only factor in all this is the snow storm.

You may have unlocked the mystery for me.

Thanks

Nick
