Oh crap... I think I know what I did - one ADF down...
I screwed up - heres a big smudge in my logs. I think I have it
figured out, unfortunatly I lost an ADF. He was only a couple
days from the store, so that stress couldn't have helped.
I was planning on doing a water test/change anyways, but was
curious when I saw the frog clinging to the top of the tank -
completely out except for one foot. I had just recharged the
DIY co2 2 days ago, and was afriad there was too much co2
in the water. Water test got me this: ph: 7.2 (lowered! from 7.6++)
no3: (drop:10, dry-tab:20), kh: 6.5(116.35)
From the table I found on the net - my co2 should have been at
optimal. Since I was planning a water change anyways, I did
change about 40% along with unhooking the co2. I think I added the new water too fast, and the change in ph back to my taps 7.6++ (test only goes to 7.6) shocked the frog too much. (The betta in the tank is fine - btw.)
Anyone think differently? Anything else I could have done wrong???
I'm new to co2 (or is that obvious by now,) isn't that a bit of an extreme
drop in ph? Ok... I'm off to read-up on water chemistry...
Water cleanses... you know?
