Unusual kH spike

Hi guys,

I've got something unusual going on in one aquarium where the kH is about 12 degrees, but in the other as well as my tap water, is only 6 degrees. Does anyone have any theory as to what caused the increase in the tank? Do certain fertilizers or something have an effect?

Rocks, stones, gravel, substrate are usually the culprit.

Nothing good happens fast in an ecosystem.

If I slack for a month or two my KH climbs 1-2 points on my low-tech as I just top off the evaporated water and as a result all the dissolved minerals get more concentrated.
