Does this Hanna freshwater magnesium kit measure GH or just magnesium?

https://hannainst.com/hi719-magnesium-hardness.html

I'm about to pick this up to test my magnesium if it will work well for a typical planted tank. Does anyone know if this works and actually detects just magnesium and not gh?

I already have the api calcium test and have read that I can do some calculations to get the magnesium, but would this be more accurate?

What ppm of mg is required again? Is 2 ppm high enough (the hanna test range).

2ppm in most cases would not be high enough.

Darn, ok. Guess it's time to measure calcium with a saltwater test, and then do math on that to figure out magnesium... why isn't there an easier way?

I mean so dilute and try again? I think that might even be in the instructions. Kind of a hassle but still doing math.

You could probably guess at a range and start it relatively diluted already.

Guess one must determine if $50 is worth the test.

Many re-mineralize RODI so values are known as absolute.

API Ca test can be cut down to measure and do the math for Mg a bit cheaper.

I've bought 1 Hanna Checker so far for Fe, it does work great.
Would I buy all the other checkers for water parameters, not so much.
