what time to test

does it make a difference when I test water ? Meaning before the lights come on ,during ,or after they go out

Depends on what you are after. For example, plants can clean up all PO4 in 20 minutes but Ca remains almost the same for weeks.

pH will rise after the lights come on. This is from plants taking up CO2 as photosynthesis cranks up.
