Seachem Trace

I am using the rotala butterfly calculator and when calculating trace elements it is saying I need to dose 240 ML per week in my 36 gallon tank to be within optimal range. Does this sound right? the bottle itself is only 500ML which means ill be replacing trace every two weeks.

Hi Stevo803,

Welcome to TPT!

What specifically are you trying to dose? Rotalabutterfly is a good calculator however in your case it is computing reaching 0.1 ppm of manganese.....are you concerned about manganese (Mn)?

yea they are calculating .15 Mn. Im just wondering what a good amount do I need to be at or how much to dose for 36 gallons. I have been following seachem calendar but im not liking that so now im looking to just reach certain targets.

Bump: Basically I have targets set for nitrogen, phosphates, potassium, and hopefully trace that I want to reach. I am just having a hard time finding an ideal range for trace. Overall though I am not that concerned with manganese

Hi @Stevo803,

When I first started with planted tanks I used Seachem products including Seachem Flourish Trace however I found that it only contained the most obscure of the nutrients that my plants needed and was not very concentrated. I changed over to Seachem Flourish Comprehensive which contains many of the same nutrients and many of the more common ones that plants need in a more concentrated form. Now, after 10 years, I dose mostly dry ferts but I still dose Seachem Comprehensive for some of the micro-nutrients that Plantex CSM+B does not contain.

If you have plant issues post some pictures and folks on the forum may be able to provide some suggestions.
