Hello everyone. I am restarting my shrimp tank and it is going to house cherry red shrimp. I am growing Micranthemum 'Monte Carlo' for the carpet Staurogyne Repens, Alternanthera reineckii 'Mini' and using medium to medium highlight with a current USA planted plus pro. I am trying to figure out what kind of fertilizers I need to use as I am only using BDBS as my substrate. I currently have Flourish, Flourish Iron, Nitrogen, Phosphorous, Potassium and Trace

I guess I am trying to find out can I mix these into a pump bottle for easier dosing or do I need to just dose according to the bottles recommendations. And will these cause any issues with the RCS

Oh I guess I have a follow up question too. I am doing a Dry Start Method (first time ever) with BDBS. I put a generous amount of Osmocote root tabs (00 size capsules) in the substrate under the Staurogyne Repens and Alternanthera Reineckii 'Mini' (about 12 in total) but since BDBS is an inert media, do I need to add anything to the substrate or in the spray bottle while I am doing the DSM to give nutrients to the plants during this time?

I can't help with your dry start, I've never gone that route. but I also run a blasting sand tank with AR mini, Monte Carlo and s repens.

I don't use root tabs and just dose dry ferts directly into the tank so I don't have to guess about how much fert *I* should add vs what the plants uptake from fert tabs in the substrate. However, lots of people here Do use O+ and I hope someone pipes up with the answers you seek.

Your seachem ferts are essentially just dry ferts already diluted with water so follow their dosing instructions.

My tank journal.
