activated carbon and fertilizers?

I currently have a 20g setup where I’m dosing Flourish and Excel. im tempted to buy activated carbon to clear the foggy look of my water, but i’ve read that some believe the activated carbon also absorbs ferts. do you guys use activated carbon? if not, do you use any other type of product to make your water crystal clear?

Carbon is a messy item which needs to be changed frequently as those tiny holes get filled too quick for me. I do not often have colors which is one point where carbon is good but I read that Purigen is preferred by many as it does great and can be refreshed and reused. I tend to lean away from the worries about removing ferts. Not science that I see/believe to be a real problem.

It does remove certain micros but it may or may not be a huge deal depending on what kind of set up you have, type of plants, substrate, etc

Activated Carbon and Aquatic Nutrients - I

Its not gonna do much after a couple of weeks anyway, so using it temporarily just to clear up the water should be fine. I wouldn't keep a fresh batch in there long term though, but again some tanks may not notice any negative affect.

If your water is perpetually cloudy then you need to find out why and fix the problem
