Dosing schedule and prime questions

I have a 5.5g high tech that's been running for a couple months.

you can see more about it here

I'm currently doing 30%-40% daily water changes to fight off the last bits of a hair algae infestation and I dose ferts again whenever I do a change. However, when the algae is gone, how often should I dose?

I'm dosing ThriveS and Flourish currently. I don't know if the flourish has enough copper to be effective but it's the only fert I had with any copper at all so I dose it too. My plants are growing with mixed results. My hydrocotyle S. Japan is growing like a weed but my dwarf rotala takes forever as do my S. repens. Other plants show no growth at all like my dwarf four leaf clover, christmas moss (what's left of it) and dwarf baby tears. I also have some telanthera cardinalis that has been the same size since I got it.

Also, I've seen that prime can give false ammonia readings. If I'm always adding prime to my water wont I always get a false ammonia reading?

That was kind of a lot of info that leads to more questions I suppose, thanks for the help

Read the thread "Filtering chloramine" regarding the ammonia readings. There is some good info in there about what your water may be treated with. In my understanding if you have chloramine treated water , prime breaks the chlorine from the ammonia and thats what is left out of the chloramine making you test positive for ammonia
