Iron test. will it register iron oxide(rust) ?

good morning,
im battling rust in my household water supply. i have water softener which theoretically is good for removing non-oxidized iron but cant do much about already oxidized one. therefor i need a way to measure iron content in water when it is presented as rust. will aquarium tests like this one https://www.jbl.de/en/products/detai...l-iron-test-fe be any good for that?

im in europe so JBL and SERA tests are easily available to me. also i can order something on ebay if necessary.

I doubt that would work - you would need to acid-treat the rust to dissolve it. However:
Once the iron forms rust it should be in the form of solid particles of a size that can be filtered out by a sediment filter. If you don't already, you should have a sediment filter before your water softener.
