0 Nitrate help

I am following the ei seachem liquid dosing regimen now since dry ferts didn't seem to be working for me. I started out following the suggested dosing per the chart for my 40g co2 injected tank. I cannot get my nitrates above 0! I am evenly dosing almost 50ml of nitrogen evenly threw the week. This isn't a normal dosing right? What am i missing? Is there another chart out there for higher planted tanks I don't know about?

Med-high planted, finnex 24/7 SE on 24 hour mode along with a finnex ray2 for a 6 hour day light cycle. Co2 levels are a little low, bubble counter is... maybe 10 bubbles a second (I cannot find any leaks). Any other info needed, ask. Can also provide pics of the tank.

Thanks in advance!

I'm guessing that you're not testing your nitrates correctly. If you're using the API test kit you have to shake the hell out of bottle #2 *before* you drip the solution into your test tube. You also need to shake the hell out of the test tube.

I literally just discovered that i had been doing the same thing. I wonder if my bottle #2 has the wrong ratio of ingredients now, and is doomed to be forever innacurate?

Thanks, and yes it is API kit. I shook the hell out of it as you suggested and I'm now at about 30ppm. I did just add another 10ml prior to the test though. Thanks for the suggestion, guess I wasn't shaking it enough when I did it before. Now to figure out the same with my iron .
