No ammonia / nitrite new tank used soil

New tank fresh out of dry start with a filter full of bacteria from another tank.

ADA soil is used before so far I don't measure any ammonia or nitrite.

When should I add fish / shrimp? Plan is to do a lot of water changes because it's a new tank to reduce algae spores. Would daily / every few days water change stress fish? How long will my bacteria stay alive w/o a source of ammonia?

I would add and continue to add 3ppm ammonia to ensure the bb is fed and ensure they can process 3ppm in 12 hours. Then you know you are good. They won't survive long without ammonia. Get the ammonia they sell at ace hardware. Then add 1ml per 5 gallons this will give you about 3ppm ammonia.

What plants are involved in the dry start?

Caution don't burn them with too much ammonia.
