Water Tests

So far I have been testing for pH, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrates and GH. What other tests should I be doing to my water and how frequently?

My readings this week:

6.6 pH
0ppm NH3/NH4 (ammonia)
0ppm N02
5ppm NO3
3 dGH

How do I know if I need to dose ferts? Currently my CO2 is not hooked up and I'm only running a 20W plant bulb over my 29g tank.

Just get PO4 and KH test kits.

The lighting is quite low so you may not need to dose much at all. You can start dosing micro (flourish etc) going into the 3rd month. But dose very little only. A quarter of the recommended dosage/week will be enough. I have one low light tank and the plants are doing well without any dosing.

No point to hook up CO2 system. The lighting is too low for your plants to benefit the extra CO2 you inject.

Kh at petco, yes. PO4 (Phosphate)...no, I doubt it. Probably ahve to order that one online, or get your LFS to order one. I'd go with SeaChem brand for the phosphate kit.
