0 Amonia - 0 Nitrites - 0 Nitrates from pet store.

After 5 weeks of fishless cycling including a week with plants that are growing quite well my daughter and I decided it was time to add some fish to our tank. We purchased 6 female guppies and 4 male guppies for our heavily planted low tech 35g hex tank. Just out of curiosity I tested the water the guppies came in from the pet store, 0 - ammonia, 0 - nitrites and 0 - nitrates. 0 ammonia and 0 nitrites didn't surprise me but 0 nitrates did. With the over stocked tanks at Petco how do they maintain 0 nitrates? I assume there is a shared filtration system for the freshwater tanks but I assumed there would be some measurable amount of nitrates??? Do they use some sort of nitrate absorbing resin?

I was a little worried about putting the guppies into out 0 - ammonia, 0 - nitrites, ~20ppm nitrates cycled tank.
