E.I. dosing really works !

After several months of guess work, and an unlimited amount of algae , I got on board with the ei dosing schedule. I had consistently low , or non existent No3 levels for the first 6 months after set up. It was very frustrating trying to determine the correct amount to add each week as per the directions that come with the fertilizer. Finally, with the proper lighting, C02, & estimative index everything has come together perfectly. So thanks to Tom Barr ! Brilliant 😊

Well, since you asked ....

1) First mistake I made in the beginning was cranking my Fluval Fresh & Plant LED light up to max power.

Now I have it dialed down considerably ( half power maybe) Fixture has a dimmer.. 8 hours with lights on. C02 comes on at 6:00 am, lights on at 8:00 am, and off at 4:00pm. Makes a huge difference.

2) Added a quality 5 lb C02 tank / regulator & solenoid a couple weeks ago.

Prior to that I was using a Fluval 88 gm. canister. It was really hard to regulate bubble count and flow.

3) Until a couple months ago was not using the E.I. method of dosing. Was just throwing it in randomly.

Now doing this : Mon, Wed, Fri I dose 15 ml. of Macros . N03, P, & K
Tues , Thurs, & Sat. I dose 5 mls Micros. Fe, Seachem Flourish & Seachem Advance

Sunday I do a 50 - 60 % water change

I really believe it's a combination of all of the above ! You can't have one without the other
