I'm pretty new to the planted tank hobby.
I've been told the recommended amount of potassium for a planted tank is 10-30ppm. If I understand the chemistry, a cap (5mL) of Flourish Potassium only raises the ppm of my 45 gallon a little over 1.5ppm.
At this rate, it seems like I will be going through a lot of Flourish Potassium to maintain the recommended ppm. Is this the case for any of you guys? Perhaps I'm overestimating the amount of potassium the plants will consume in a given period of time.
Does anyone recommend buying K2SO4 and creating a DIY solution?
