Solution color for drop checker fluid

I decided to change the solution in the drop checker for the first time and the fluid is yellow, I don't remember it being yellow when I set it up. but I am old.

Chime in please, what color should drop checker solution be before you add water?

Blue. The active ingredient in the reagent is Bromothymol Blue. Is it yellow, or a yellow-orange color? If it is yellow-orange, it's most likley a Universal PH Indicator, which would be no good for measuring Co2.

If it actually is Bromothymol blue, and the solution has become very acidic for some reason it would be yellow. Might still work fine though, add some 4 dKH water to it and it should turn a very dark green/blue color when the drop checker is in air.

I agree with Malakian. Bromothymol blue should be blue (a deep blue, almost like navy) before addition to 4 dkH water.

Blue. Then it turns green when safe levels of co2 are in, yellow when too much co2 in. You could have a bad batch. Jbl do a good pre mixed fluid
