How to tell TDS without meter

Is there anyway I could save some money and time waiting for a tds meter to arrive and just tell my tds. Also how to lower tds? When I do a water test tomorrow I will let you know what my GH and KH is. Thanks!

The Gh and Kh will show part of your TDS and is a good estimate of how soft/hard your water is, but the TDS will show everything. They are only $7 on amazon...

The best way to lower TDS is to use RO water which can be purchased at many LFS (particularly Saltwater fish stores), around 25-50 cents per gallon.

But unless you have REALLY hard tap water, no need to alter the parameters...

From the sounds of it, tap water is on the soft side already... i.e. possibly around 4 GH and 0 KH, based on old posts.

TDS is being raised with the use of Equilibrium and possibly Baking Soda? *AND* pH Down....

Here's a little something to understand it a bit better....
