OK, got another one for you smart folks...

First, the set up:

55 Gallon
Epoxy gravel mixed with Latterite
DIY CO2 (2X 2L bottles)

Try to keep the following levels:

NO3 - 10 ppm
PO4 - .75 ppm
CO2 - ~20 ppm
Potassium 10 ppm 1X per week
CSM+B 1 ml 2X per week

Now on to the question.

My Marsilea quadrifolia new growth is a sickly looking brownish green and my Dwarf Sag and Chain Sword new growth is almost white.

It seems to me to be an iron defiency, but with Latterite mixed into the substrate, is this possible? Do I need to also be dosing iron micro?

I read the posts about white leaves possibly being a calcium defiency, but am not familiar with calcium in a freshwater tank.

Any ideas will be appreciated.

I don't know about the calcium because I have very hard water, but I've found that my marsilea likes lots of trace. I dose 10ml 3x's a week in my 55g. This is with 50% weekly water changes.

Marsilea's new growth is that color but eventually turn into a dark green shortly, so nothing to really worry about. As for the others, do you know what the GH of your water is? BTW, what kind of lighting are you running over the tank?

On a side note, you might want to up your CSM+B dosing up. If you're only dosing 2 ml of CSM+B on a weekly basis, that simply isn't enough for such a large tank.

Okie Dokie. Here's the requested info:

GH is 180 ppm
Lighting is 130 W 6700 K PC lighting

Only dosing 2 ml total CSM+B because my mix is 1/2 C warm water + 3/4 tsp mix. Checked with Rex and he said it was a fairly strong mix and should only need approx 2 ml per week...

Am still in a quandry. You were right, Ibn, the quadrifolia is starting to green up, but the dwarf sag is still whitish (except the older growth which is turning brown! )

To be honest, not sure what the GH should be or what to do about it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for your time!
