Fert Dosing with Drip Water Change?
I'm working on setting up a 125 gallon with a sump and am trying to figure out my fertilizer dosing. The tank will use a controller to change out water automatically on the following schedule:
M-F: 8 gallons a day
Sat: 10 Gallons
Sun: 30 Gallons
Fresh water will be pulled from dual 55 gallon water storage drums that are used to age and warm the water. These drums will be periodically replenished by a solenoid controlled water line split off from my sink. I can either have it replenish daily or once a week depending on how I set the float valves.
However I am not sure how to handle dosing. On my previous tanks I just used the baseline EI method and changed out 50% of the water once a week. Now water will be coming in throughout the week. The dosing will be automatic as well and can be added either directly to the tank or to the water storage tanks.
I was thinking about adding a whole weeks worth of Macros to the storage tanks after a weekly refill and then adding micros directly to the tank. This would give a fresh inflow of nutrient rich water daily and a larger single dose once a week. Would there be any downside to this method? Any other suggestions? It will be a high light discus tank (82 F) with CO2.
