help me make dosing adjustments

Hi--I rarely test my water because I just dose EI and do a 50% weekly water change.

Well, I tested the water just before the water change today and was shocked by the results. API liquid test kits.

Phosphate 10
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 40
pH 6.4
kH 2
GH 3-4

I dose NPK on M,W,F and CSM+B and Fe on T, Th, Sa. The tank has pressurized CO2 and the fish and plants seem healthy. I know that test kits can be innacurate, but Im concerned I may be harming fish or plants with the excess Nitrate and Phosphates.

Suggestions?

40 ppm will not harm your fish. Phosphate test kits are a waste...

If you haven't calibrated them, they are worthless anyways... If your plants and fish look happy, there is no reason to assume they are not.

If you want to alter these numbers and see what happens you could try half dose of KNO3 and no KH2PO4 for a week and see what happens.
