Water Parameters

Hello,

I have had a fo tank for several years and recently upgraded to a planted tank with DIY co2, a current satellite+ led 7hrs, and I am dosing seachem comprehensive. I have started analyzing water parameters and came up with the following, ph-6.8, gh-4, and kh-4.5. It seems okay, but I'm looking for some confirmation or correction. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi scaitfay,

Welcome to TPT!

Your water parameters looks good however with a Current Satellite+ dosing just Seachem Comprehensive may not provide sufficient nutrients for your plants resulting in deficiencies. I always recommend that new folks take some time and read the "stickies" at the beginning of the various sub-forums, possibly Fertilizing and Water Parameters and Lighting would be a couple for you to look at first.

Thanks for the direction. There's a lot of great info on here! I am following seachem's dosing chart exactly with all ferts listed in hopes of covering all my bases. In two weeks there has been growth and also a little yellowing on some outer leaves. I did have a bit of an agar bloom last week so cut back on hours of light which seems to have stopped the problem. Thanks again.

Seachem's dosing charts seem to be slanted towards low light tanks. They don't, in my opinion, provide adequate dosages for medium or high light tanks. You could try double their recommendations and see if that improves the plants growth. I doubt that that much of an increase would do any harm. But, if you do weekly or every two weeks 50% water changes, that will prevent any problems.

Thanks, I'll up the dosing to double and see how that goes. I've been doing 50% water changes weekly.
