Upgrading Tank

Right now I have a lightly 90 planted tank. Dosing wet fertilizers Potassium, Plantex and Excel. My plants are low light.

I will be installing 2 radion xr15FW lights this week. I want to go to Dry Ferts and eventually add CO2 and add more plants.

I don't dose KH2P04 or KN03 because we have hard water (tank tested at 7.6) and my nitrates tend to be on the higher side. I'm struggling to keep it at 40.

Should I increase the amount of K2S04 to compensate not dosing with KH2P04 and KN03?

Why are dosing all these things to a lightly planted tank. Which substrate are you using. Just use Co2 for now and watch the progress. Never add all these chemicals unless you need it.

First make your tank stable without adding all kind of ferts.

My plants definitely do better than if I just do Excel. When I went through a lazy stage and just dosed Excel, the plants didn't do that well. The crypts stayed alive but didn't florish. Now that I am more consistent with the dosing, they look a lot healthier but could be a better. I do have a problem with Algae, but not a major one.

My substrate has soil, flourite and pebbles.

With these substrates and good lighting do co2 injection. It's enough.

OK, will do. But until I install CO2, should I stop the ferts and just dose Excel? At what point does one start dosing ferts (at a medium planted tank or wait until highly planted).
