Mixing Excel with Potassium carbonate gaee orange/brown solution. Ruined?

I was making a stock solution for my autodoser and instead of just duplicating Brighty K, I'd go ahead and put excel in there in place of water.

I made 1.5 liters (150 g potassium carbpnate) with 500 ml Excel and 1000 of water. Solution turned weird milky white brownish orange, and there was this weird gelatinous looking foam that floated.

What happened? Is the solution any good?

The solution is probably garbage.

I'm not sure exactly what happened, but there probably was some reaction between the glutaraldehyde and the potassium carbonate.

I remember reading a few years ago on the seachem support forum that excel should not be dead with anything, as it will precipitate most substances out of solution, making them unusable.

I think they said ok to mixing everything but excel. I suggest checking out the forum to get the definite answer though.

Well, now I know. If I didn't know better i would say there was iron precipitation, but all that was in the solution was Excel, RODI water and Potassium carbonate (from sigma, at that!)

Learning experiences.
