Question Rotting Spiderwood

A friend brought me a piece of Spiderwood to put in my tank. As I was placing it, I noticed that parts of it are falling apart - my guess is that it is rotting.

Will this effect water quality? I was super excited to get it - as we are setting this tank up on a budget. But, I don't want to leave it in there if it will make the water bad.

If it is rotting and falling apart, I would be afraid that it may negatively impact the water conditions.

To be on the safe side, I would remove it.

All wood gets to that point eventually. Sounds like you need to try another piece.
