Can You OD iron?

Can you over dose iron? most of my plants have alot of yellow in them. I am using EI dosing Kno3, K2s04, KH2P04, CSBM and Iron. I have been using about 3mls of iron, but the yellown seems to stay. can I just keep uping till they go green?

Im not sure what is toxic but I know I been using alot of iron lately. Guess Tom would have to chime in here this way you know for sure. I know I been using about a 1/2 tsp a few times a week and everything has been fine.

That is only part of the info.... how much and how often are you dosing? I could dose it dry into my tank, but it is relevant to know how much and how often you are dosing....

all u have to do is purchase a iron tester and check ur water and again if u dont use potassium ur plants wont suck up the iron. Some iron fertilizers contain potassium in them but some dont.

Testing for Fe isn't going to tell you anything useful and you would have to use x50 times the amounts your saying before it effects anything. If your using the EI method then you have plenty of NPK that isn't the issue more likely it's something like a combination of C02 and lighting issues.

I use *allot* of Fe in my high-tech tanks and I have never tested for it nor do I expect to ever test for it since I remove most of it every Monday during my water change.

My drop checker stays lime green so i think im good on co2, i could try uping tell the fish start to gasp and see what that does? I run the light about 9 hours a day. I relly dont know what else to unlees i add more, everything grows good just keeps a yellowish color to it.

Mine was the same way so I decided to up the co2 and noticed more pearling and increased growth. What size tank do you have? Increase your micros that was my problem it seemed. Make small changes this way you dont throw everything out of wack.

I would use the highest dosing the EI method suggests for your tank. There is plenty of light (T5HO is a lot of light) and if the drop checker was filled with the right stuff, and is green this sounds pretty good.

Are any of your plants low light plants? These might yellow out in high light.

Are the yellow leaves the older ones? lower on the plants? Or new growth?
Are the veins green?
Do you have any plants that would turn red or any variation? Are they red? (or pink, or whatever they are supposed to do?)

I dose 2 to 3 ppm of Fe/week and all I can see is better plant growth and color. My goldies are doing great, always hungry.

My Fe dosing 3 times/week:

10% DTPA-0.26ppm
Flourish Fe-0.24ppm
CSM+B-0.34ppm
Sprint 138-0.04ppm (6% fully chelated EDDHA iron )
TPN-0.06ppm
