Why bothering using either of these filter medias?

If you have a properly cycled aquarium, there is no need for Zeolite. Most people also agree that carbon is best left out of the filter, as it has a propensity to adsorb the very (chelated micro)nutrients that are adding to the aquarium.

Hi,

The Zeolite after 30 days is an excellent bio filter. I do use Black Diamond AC since my tap water is a bit high on copper. I guess I'll just buy a small jar of White Diamond and use it when need it. I do use an uv and Purigen, guess I am paranoid about crystal clear clean water. On the carbon/no carbon endless debate, I am on the carbon side.

Either or both during the first month can help remove some things from the water, but I have never used Zeolite during normal cycling, just when there is an ammonia emergency.
I do not keep carbon in the filters, either, and the water in most tanks is quite clear.
