Reactors are definitely better for the simple fact it keeps the co2 in the water until almost 100% of the co2 is dissolved. Diffusers simply break the larger bubble from the co2 tank into smaller bubbles. Both work fine but reactors are more efficient and won't give you that "soda bottle" look in your tank with all those tiny bubbles.

What is good reactor to buy? Should I put it on the output of my fluval 305 canister filter? Should I run separate pump or powerhead?

Just make one either rex grigs or cerges. Imo cerges looks cleaner but is also more expensive to make. It goes inline on the outflow of your canister.
