What part of the plant is it from? New or old growth.

What ferts, how much of each (grams, or ppm) and how often are you adding them?

Brand new growth.
Just recently started messing with to water.
Dose pps pro macro solution (30 mL) and flourish iron (3 cap fulls) daily. Plantex once a week. Prior to using r/o water, if I dosed any more, everything would show toxicity signs.

Do you remineralize the RO water ?
Is the old growth affected by this ? Fe would be the first target. I know Mg deficiency shows mostly in old growth, but you could try adding 5ppm Mg and see if the plants turn green (won't hurt if this is not the problem).

Hmm, toxicity signs you say and what might those have been ?

On hiatus till later this year

Very likely an iron deficiency which shows up in new growth only.

What are you adding for iron? How much? How big is your tank?

Hi Mikevwall,

+1 for Zapins analysis that it is likely an iron deficiency; interveinal chlorosis (yellowing of the leaves between the veins of the leaf; veins remain green).

Quote:

1. Interveinal chlorosis on young leaves.

a. Interveinal chlorosis on young leaves with larger veins only remaining green. Necrotic spots usually absent; however, with extreme deficiencies, young leaves are almost white and may have necrotic margins and tips; necrotic spots may extend inward. potassium, zinc or copper excess can inhibit uptake of iron. High pH may also induce iron deficiency....iron deficiency

Iron deficiency symptoms are similar to those of magnesium deficiency, but iron deficiencies occur in young leaves first: Iron accumulated in older leaves is relatively immobile in the phloem.

The tank is 150 gallons.
I have started using flourish iron. 3 capfuls. daily. Do I need more than that?

1 cap per 50 gallons per Seachem site, but I wonder if the plant has been in a deficient tank, and these leaves formed before the iron supplement got added?

What is the GH?
