I started dosing CO2 again last night after about a years hiatus, would my kits still be ok?

Depends on the brand of test kits. If you are using the API line of test kits, here is what I found about them on Google.

Quote:
Each reagent bottle has a Lot # printed on the bottle. The last four digits are the month and year of manufacture. Example: Lot # 28A0102. This is a pH reagent manufactured in January of 2002. Pond Care Wide Range pH, ammonia, High Range pH,
Nitrate, phosphate, Copper, calcium and GH all last for three years. Nitrite and KH will last for four years. Freshwater pH(low range) and Pond Care Salt Level will last for five years. I would not trust these kits after they have expired.
Also, do note that if you are using the pH/kH/CO2 relationship to measure CO2, it will not work. You are better off getting a drop checker with a 4 dkH reference solution. The relationship will not work because it is based on the assumption that carbonates are the only buffer in your water (which is not the case in an aquarium).

Very interesting that that is on google... I wrote it, after researching the API tests at their web site. Their web site has changed, and this info is no longer there. http://aquariumpharm.com/

If the kits are something besides API, then try to get similar info from the manufacturer.

I didn't know that you wrote it!

I have quoted it many times, as this question has been asked multiple times as well

That is why I dug deep and took the time to write it. I also have seen that question a lot.
Keep on spreading the info!

Now, if only the facts about fishless cycling could be spread as well!
