I figure out how much of each I want to dose all week. Then add enough water to dissolve the materials. The volume of water is whatever I want it to be. Then I divide it in 3, and dose that much 3 days per week.
NO3: Are the fish contributing anything? What is the NO3 level without dosing?
PO4: Do you have a phosphate test? (Note: it is phosphate that is incompatible with iron-do not mix phosphate with traces that contain iron)
K: Aquatic plants seem to use a lot of K, so in my mixes I use more K than anything else.
Are you actually dealing with a 10 gallon tank? Or do you simply want to think in units of 10 gallons? I make a mix with 2 liters of water that lasts a week for about 700 gallons of water.
EI has some recipes that you could start with. It is designed to be used even without a test kit, as long as you do 50% water changes, weekly. I tested, then scaled back the dosing and water changes.
Neil, Start with the low end as suggested by the EI method, be prepared to do some water changes, and test what happens through a couple of weeks. Then adjust the recipe as needed.
