How much do you dose?

I was just wondering does everyone dose according to tank size or water quantity?

Example 10 gallon tank may only hold 9 gallons after substrate and all equipment is added. Do you round up to 10 gallons on your dosing? Or do you dose for 9 gallons? Just got to thinking about this after all the toxicity discussions.

Please share your input.

I dose for estimated water volume, since I feel like that is more accurate. After all, if you're looking to raise a certain nutrient by X ppm, water volume is what matters.

My 75 gal holds ~62 gallons, my 50 holds ~39. This is with sub and hardscape, before plants. For those two tanks I calculate doses based on 60 and 40 gallons.

I also dose based on expected water volume, not tank size. I dose for 60g in my 75g tank.

Interesting on the above two 75g tanks. I use about 65g for my 75g. Thinking I might want to lower that number to 60.
I guess to answer the OP's question, does the amount of water you actually have - hopefully you guess better than I do :-)
